Housing Assistance Programs
The Housing Authority of the City of Orange offers a variety of housing programs designed to help individuals and families access safe, stable, and affordable homes. Our programs provide flexible options to meet diverse needs while promoting independence, community stability, and an improved quality of life.
Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Program
The Housing Choice Voucher Program, commonly known as the voucher program, allows qualified participants to choose their own housing in the private rental market. Eligible households receive rental assistance that can be used with participating landlords throughout the community. This program offers flexibility and choice, empowering families to select housing that best fits their needs, budget, and preferred neighborhood.
Section 8 Waiting List Program
The Section 8 Program provides rental subsidies to eligible low- and moderate-income individuals and families. Applicants must first join the Section 8 waiting list to be considered for assistance when vouchers become available. Once approved, participants receive financial support to help make private-market housing more affordable. This program plays a vital role in helping families secure quality housing while maintaining financial stability.
Public Housing Program
Our Public Housing Program offers affordable rental units owned and managed directly by the Housing Authority of the City of Orange. These well-maintained properties provide safe, comfortable living environments within supportive and community-focused neighborhoods. Residents benefit from affordable rent, responsive property management, and access to services and resources designed to promote long-term success and well-being.
